Our Story: It All Began with “Eggplant” and “Bamboo Shoot”

We are the proud owners of two rescued cats named "Eggplant" (Qiézi) and "Bamboo Shoot" (Sǔnzi)—affectionately named after the foods we dislike the most. We will never forget the day we brought them home; their eyes and body language were filled with pure helplessness and fear. The moment they saw us, they bolted straight under the cabinets and deep beneath the sofa, as if anticipating harm. Any attempt to draw near was met with defensive growls and hisses. Looking at their frail, skinny bodies, we knew their past lives on the streets must have been filled with immense pain and hardship.

 

Building Trust with Patience: The Warmth of a Nuzzle

What followed was over a month of patient, unconditional presence. In the beginning, we had to hide the moment we set their food down just so they could eat in peace. Day by day, we slowly built a bridge of trust. Gradually, they began to approach and sniff our hands, eventually letting us gently stroke their heads and scratch their chins. Before long, they grew bold enough to happily lean their bodies and nuzzle their tails against our legs, demanding head pats and back scratches. That image of them nuzzling against us is forever etched into our hearts. That beautiful transition from fear to complete trust and affection never fails to warm our souls.

 

The Birth and Mission of NuzTails

This gave birth to our brand name, NuzTails—a shorthand for "nuzzle tails"—created to honor that unforgettable moment of connection. However, through our adoption journey, we realized that countless stray cats and dogs still haven't found a place to call home. Even worse, many more have not yet been rescued and remain stranded on the streets, facing severe survival crises every single day. They live in constant danger, exposed to starvation, freezing cold, road traffic accidents, parasites, and fatal diseases.

 

Our Commitment: 2% for Protection, Endless Love

Because of this, we want to contribute our own small strength. We pledge to donate 2% of our monthly revenue directly to animal shelters and rescue organizations. We hope this humble contribution will help more stray dogs and cats so that one day, they too can have a safe haven to thrive and a family to love them forever.
